QA-74, 15 November 2018, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hami Aksoy, in Response to a Question Regarding the European Union Court of Justice’s Ruling on Terrorist Organization PKK’s Application for Removal from the EU Terrorist Organizations List
With its decision of 15 November 2018, European Union Court of Justice ruled that PKK will remain on the EU terrorist organizations list.
On the other hand, the Court annulled the EU Council’s decisions taken between 10 February 2014 and 4 August 2017 with respect to PKK’s remaining on the EU terrorist organizations list. The annulment was based on procedural shortcomings on part of the EU Council in the process of updating the terrorist organizations list. It did not contain reassesment on the PKK’s features as a terrorist organization.
It is obvious that PKK’s efforts to conceal its terrorist nature will not yield any results. PKK is a terrorist organization and will continue to be treated as such by the international community.
